    A UK-founded website used to defraud victims on an industrial scale has been infiltrated by police, leading to a number of arrests around the world.

    As many as 70,000 UK victims were tricked by LabHost's scams, which obtained 480,000 card numbers and 64,000 PINs globally.

    Set up in 2021 by a criminal network, LabHost enabled users to set up phishing websites designed to trick victims into revealing personal information such as email addresses, passwords, and bank details.

    Law enforcement agencies have arrested 37 suspects across the UK and around the world.

    A UK-founded website used to defraud victims on an industrial scale has been infiltrated – leading to scores of arrests around the world, the Metropolitan Police has said.

    As many as 70,000 UK victims were tricked by the site’s scams, which obtained 480,000 card numbers and 64,000 PINs globally.

    Hacking victims in the West Midlands have been left more than £21,000 out of pocket over the past year.

    Data from Action Fraud, the national fraud and cybercrime reporting service, shows there were 1,012 reports of email and social media accounts being hacked in the region with £21,700 in losses reported over the last 12 months.

    Cybercrime has more than tripled in Suffolk this year compared to last year new police figures have shown.

    According to data from Action Fraud, which collects reports of fraud on behalf of police there were 66 reports of cybercrime in January and February this year compared to only 20 reports during the same timeframe in 2023.

    More than 22,500 people had their social media or email accounts compromised last year, new data reveals.

    According to figures from Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre, a staggering 22,530 individuals reported hacking incidents in 2023.

    Amajor bank is warning over little known 'CEO fraud' impersonation scams which has seen victims lose almost £11,000 on average in the past year.

    This is a less common impersonation scam which Lloyds Bank has seen an uptick in and results in the highest average loss amount of this scam type.

    With this ruse, scammers pretend to be a senior member of staff at a company and contact the victim - typically a member of staff at the same company - telling them to make an urgent payment.

    The National Crime Agency is today, Tuesday 20 February, revealing details of an international disruption campaign targeting LockBit, the world’s most harmful cyber crime group.

    Today, after infiltrating the group’s network, the NCA has taken control of LockBit’s services, compromising their entire criminal enterprise.

    A warning has been issued after County Durham residents have been targeted with a 'fake police' phone scam that has been sweeping through the region.

    The scam calls, which are fraudulently from the Metropolitan Police, are coming through to people, who then ask people for their bank details and say they are investigating fraud offences.
