    The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and Action Fraud have recently noticed that fraudsters are purporting to be from the Home Office and cold-calling victims to claim that there is a problem with their immigration status. Victims are informed that in order to rectify this issue, they must pay an up-front fee and are often asked to confirm personal details such as their passport number and date of arrival in the United Kingdom.

    The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and Action Fraud have recently noticed that fraudsters have been impersonating bailiffs requesting payments for “phantom” debt. The fraud involves being cold-called by someone purporting to be a bailiff working on behalf of a court, attempting to recover funds for a non-existent debt.
