Compliance: Serious Fraud Office — progress on disclosure

Disclosure isn't paperwork. It's justice.

A new His Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) review found the Serious Fraud Office (UK)'s approach to disclosure has strengthened, with clearer leadership, greater awareness of disclosure risks, and a stronger assurance culture.

For fraud, compliance, legal and investigations professionals, the message is clear: disclosure failures are rarely caused by a lack of rules. More often, they stem from weaknesses in governance, oversight and information management.

As investigations become increasingly data-heavy, the ability to identify, preserve and disclose relevant information is becoming a critical organisational capability.

Good disclosure isn't just about compliance. It's about fairness, transparency and trust.
