    A Farmfoods employee has been jailed after conning his employers out of £275,000 by forging directors' signatures on cheques.

    John Brown scammed the supermarket chain while employed as a management accountant between 2015 and 2018.

    The Serious Fraud Office has opened inquiries into the scandal-hit social housing firm Home REIT and is probing whether its former fund managers misled the market, City A.M. has learned.

    The watchdog, which investigates bribery, corruption and fraud, has held calls and spoken with several people that worked with the company in recent weeks but is yet to open a formal investigation, City A.M. understands.

    A former Salford Red Devils employee has been found guilty of conning people out of thousands of pounds by selling fake concert and football tickets.

    Craig Hookham, of Medlock Way in Whitefield, Bury conned over 50 people, Manchester Crown Court heard.

    The Government is in “dialogue” with the funeral industry as police investigate an alleged scandal at a business in Hull, the Prime Minister has said.

    Legacy Independent Funeral Directors is the subject of an investigation after officers recovered 35 bodies and suspected human ashes from the Hull-based firm.

    Officers cordoned off three of the company’s sites after the force received a report last week of concerns about the “storage and management processes relating to care of the deceased”.

    LONDON (AP) — Nearly three dozen bodies were removed from a funeral home in northern England, and a man and woman were arrested Sunday on suspicion of fraud and preventing a lawful burial, police said.

    Humberside Police announced the developments after five days of investigation at three branches of Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull and East Yorkshire.

    Mike Lynch, the former boss of software firm Autonomy, has settled his lawsuit with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), days before the parties were due in court.

    Lynch filed a data lawsuit against the UK’s fraud agency at the end of January, ahead of his criminal trial in the US.

    According to his claim form seen by City A.M., he filed a data protection claim seeking access to personal data which may provide a complete defence for him in the US.

    A council worker has narrowly avoided prison after claiming more than £10,000 in sick pay while secretly working a second job.

    Samantha Harris was a youth support practitioner at Suffolk County Council when she dishonestly claimed the five-figure sick pay sum between December 2022 and May 2023, magistrates heard.

    Seven alleged victims from Solihull, Bedworth, Stratford, Leamington, Kenilworth and Banbury contacted police.

    A suspected scam builder has been arrested amid alleged £270,000 worth of fraud. Warwickshire Police says that a 66-year-old man from the Stratford area, who has not been identified, is in custody.

    A man has admitted defrauding his former employer out of more than £300,000.

    Daniel Robinson entered a guilty plea to fraud by abuse of his position at the pharmaceuticals company Almac when he appeared at Craigavon Crown Court last Tuesday.

    According to legal documents, the 26-year-old, from Castle Rise in Tandragee, committed the offence on a date between January 1, 2020, and May 26, 2022.

    Builder admits two counts of fraud.

    Stephen Spurling is being prosecuted by Dudley Council under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulation act 2008.

    He admitted two counts of fraud when he appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court, sitting at Park Hall, today - one of false representation and another over a payment by a customer.
