Wrexham Trading Standards has issued a warning after reports of an email scam claiming to offer covid-19 vaccines.

Images of scam emails and text messages purporting to be from the NHS about the coronavirus vaccine which asks recipients to enter their bank details have been shared on Twitter and Facebook. Our readers have also asked us to check this.  This is a real scam that members of the public should be aware of. The real vaccine is free and the NHS will never ask for your financial details in order to receive it.

Elderly victims of Covid-19 vaccine scams have been warned about the dangers of losing their life savings in a new police video.

ActionFraud – the UK’s national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre has issued a warning over a coronavirus vaccine scam, after receiving a high volume of reports phishing emails this week.

There has been a growing number of reports from people who have received an automated phone call which states that their National Insurance number has been “compromised”. The recipients are then instructed to “press one on their handset to be connected to the caller”, which will allegedly fix the problem and even be issued a new National Insurance number.

Cifas - a UK fraud prevention service - has issued a warning to Scots about new scams involving Royal Mail and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
